Geogrid is widely used to reinforce soils in transport, hydroengineering and other branches of contemporary construction.
Application of geogrid
Due to high carrying capacity and relatively low deformation geogrid can be used:
- to fix the bed of the road cover of various types;
- to strengthen slopes and fix steep embankments;
- to strengthen banks and bank zones of the ponds and channels of small streams;
- to fix slopes of the cones of railway tracks;
- to build headwalls
Geogrid is a cellular construction of polyethylene bands 1.5 mm wide bound with each other in staggered rows with welded high-strength joints. The stretch in the work level forms horizontally and vertically stable frame, which is used to fix weighting material (soil, silica sand, concrete and so on).
The material of which the geogrid is produced is neutral to the aggressive environment, non-toxic, resistant to the ultraviolet radiation, oil, alkali, resistant to soil environment, fresh and salt water, tha saves its characteristics during many years of use.
The geogrid is transported in folded state and has a small size.

- Geogrids are anchored on the slopes by means of steel or high strength plastic L-anchors 12-16 cm wide and 0.6-1.2 m long. Anchors are placed along the contour of each geogrid to ensure its stretch in the form of rectangle.
- Between the geogrids and the surface of soil slope (in case of filling of frame with detritus) there is placed separating and draining layer of non-woven textiles with density of 200-400 h/m.
